EVENT FLOOR COSPLAY RULES

  1. Fear Con is a family-friendly convention. Please use discretion when planning your costumes for the event.
  2. Hate, race, or devil symbols will not be tolerated in any way.
  3. All body parts must be covered. Absolutely no nudity.
  4. All military, law enforcement, and other emergency service costumes should be easily distinguishable from official uniforms.
  5. No offensive language written or spoken as part of the customs will be allowed.
  6. Fear Con has the right to ask any attendee to leave with no refund if the rules are not followed.

WEAPONS POLICY

  1. ABSOLUTELY no weapons that can be used for harm are allowed in Fear Con. This is a strict policy and will be checked.
  2. All ‘costume’ weapons are subject to approval or search prior to entering the event.
  3. All ‘costume’ weapons must be searched at our Customer Service area. After approval from the check, we will clearly mark your weapon as approved to enter the venue.
  4. DO NOT remove the weapons approval mark for any reason, otherwise, you will be asked to leave the venue.
  5. All costume weapons must conform to state and federal law.
  6. All weapons must be easily distinguishable from real weapons and must be constructed from safe, lightweight material. Approved materials are rubber, plastic (PVC, worbla, etc.), foam, cardboard, and paper-mâché.
  7. Projectiles or any type of ammunition are forbidden. BB guns, paintball guns, dart guns, blow guns and water guns and their accompanying ammunition will NOT be permitted.
  8. Metal weapons of any kind are forbidden. This includes tools, saws, handcuffs, brass knuckles, knives or blades of any kind, sharp material, swords, or any type of metal that can be used for harm.
  9. Costume swords/daggers made from approved materials are allowed, but may not have any sharp edges. Wooden swords are allowed but must be tied to your costume in such a way that they cannot be drawn or unsheathed. Security will zip-tie swords to their sheaths to ensure that they cannot be drawn. If you wish to draw your sword to pose for a picture, it must be made of approved materials. Metal blades are not allowed, whether they are sheathed or not.
  10. No wooden or aluminum/metal bats are permitted.
  11. Absolutely no Incendiary or flammable weapons are allowed.
  12. Absolutely no threatening actions are allowed to anyone within the venue.
  13. Bags and backpacks are allowed but are subject to a bag check at the discretion of Fear Con staff and security.

 

Fear Con Anti-Harassment Policy

Fear Con is committed to providing a safe and harassment-free environment for everyone attending. Fear Con does not tolerate any form of harassment from event attendees including attendees, staff, volunteers, vendors, and guests. Any individual(s) violating this policy may be removed from the event by Law Enforcement, Security Managers and Event Staff at the event organizers discretion.

Reporting:

Harassment can be reported by anyone. If you encounter someone who has harassed you, made you uncomfortable or observed harassment of any kind, contact a Security Team member immediately to take prompt action. The Security Team will be identified as wearing grey volunteer shirts with security on the back and will be wearing credentials stating security. Security Team will escort you to the Staff Office in the Southwest corner of the North building for further actions. The Security Team will contact law enforcement if necessary and will provide you with a safe and quiet place to take down information to fill out a report. Fear Con has a zero-tolerance policy and your safety is our number one priority.

Emergency Policy

If there is an active emergency, contact a Security Team member immediately to take prompt action. The Security Team will be identified as wearing grey volunteer shirts with security on the back and will be wearing credentials stating security. Security Team will escort you to the Staff Office for further actions. The Security Team will contact law enforcement if necessary and will provide you with a safe and quiet place to take down information to fill out a report. Fear Con has a zero-tolerance policy and your safety is our number one priority.

Lost and Found Child

If a child is found at the event without his or her parent or guardian, the child will be escorted to the Fear Con Staff Office located in the Southwest corner of the North building. If the child does not want to go to the designated location, Security Team members will stay with the child and relay the location to Security Managers and Staff personnel. Once the parent or guardian arrives to pick up their child, Security Team will need to confirm and record your identification and contact info prior to Security or staff releasing the child.

If a parent or guardian is missing their child, immediately find a Security Team member or report it to the Fear Con Staff Office located in the Southwest corner of the North building. The Security Team will be identified as wearing grey volunteer shirts with security on the back and will be wearing credentials stating security. Security Team members have procedures in place for locating children. Once the child is found, they will be escorted directly to the Staff Office. If the child does not want to go to the designated location, Security Team members will stay with the child and relay the location to Security Managers and Staff personnel. The parent or guardian will be notified of their child’s location and Security Team will need to confirm and record your identification and contact info prior to Security or staff releasing the child.

First Aid/Injury Policy

If you or someone has a medical emergency/injury. Immediately find a Security Team member or report it to the Fear Con Staff Office/ First Aid station located in the Southwest corner of the North building. The Security Team will be identified as wearing grey volunteer shirts with security on the back and will be wearing credentials stating security. If available, EMT will assess the situation. If more medical help is needed, the correct medical Officials/Authorities will be notified to assist.
